Album Mastering
What is mastering? Mastering gives your album a final polish by optimizing the sound quality and volume of each song. Using a variety of audio tools including equalization and compression, each song is critically processed to bring out maximum clarity and fullness. Song spacing and sequencing are also done to ensure the album has a good flow and cohesiveness. In addition to the sonic enhancement, mastering also provides you with a professional, error-free master ready for replication.
CD’s that aren’t properly mastered can suffer a variety of problems including: - Volume levels below industry standard (sounds weak compared to other CD’s)
- Mixes that don’t sound balanced (too much/too little low end or high end)
- Master failure in replication due to uncorrectable errors (delays your CD!)

Todd Chatalas in your Mastering Dept. has worked absolute "Magic" for my projects! I was skeptical at first to allow someone "else" to "touch" my music... ( most artist/musicians are! ) ...however, after a brief conversation with Todd, realizing quickly that Todd was also a musician, I "allowed" Todd to master my 76 minute/18 song original music CD project...WOW! Greater clarity, depth, broader EQ range across the board, and a MUCH stronger over-all urgency to my songs! Of course I sent my next CD projects to Todd! I do not consider my recordings "done" until Todd Chatalas at NW Media has mastered the entire project! This from a guy who was HAPPY with the master digital recordings I brought in! Needless to say, Todd at NW Media is the all-important finishing touch to my CD projects.
Kathy Lawrence has been great to work with on every project as well! She even arranged to have a "quick" 100 copies of a CD project made on the spot for me when an unexpected delay could have postponed my CD release party! WOW!
Lastly, let's get to the BIGGY: PRICE! I have done several small scale projects, and no matter how I work it....NW Media is ALWAYS the best cost per CD. What I mean is this: My latest CD project worked out this way: Instead of spending $600 for 200 Cd's on my own....I got 1000 Cd's for just $1300.00 total! Basically, I got 5 TIMES the product for just twice the money spent! And: when I say "product", I mean Mastered, Shrink-wrapped, 4-sided insert, clear tray, double-sided COLOR everywhere, UPC-barcoded, "EVERYTHING DONE" product!
Also, I felt like I was able to personally oversee every aspect of the project. That is HUGE to me, and it cannot be overstated...NW Media WORKED with me on everything....there is ONE place for my current CD projects, and ONE place for all my future projects: NW MEDIA.
